    Happy Thanksgiving!!

We live in a time where tomorrow seems to be uncertain.  The Economy, Government, the News, everything seems to carry a negatve.  We live in a time of technology, having to have the newest TV, IPODs, Cell phones, new cars.  Seems everything is very materialistic and of very little value.  Truth is, these posessions carry no value. Remeber, we only have this moment...no one is guranteed tomorrow.

Ever since the day God blessed my wife an I with Reagan, beginning with the day we both found out that she was to be born, my life completely changed in so many, many ways.  I began to understand and recognize what truly is important in life.  I want to take a few moments to be thankful.

    1.  I am blessed that I get to have Becky as a wife.  She is beautiful, caring, faithful, truthful, wonderful, fun, understanding, loving, and encouraging.  She is someone who has done blessed me in so many ways and has been there for me during the bright times and some very dark times too.  I began to realize how special she is and how much more of a husband I should always be.

    2.  Reagan my daughter.  NOTHING can melt my heart more than when she is laying on my lap in my arms, looks up at me and smiles.  Her smile encourages me. I didn't know how much communication a person could actually have with someone so small.  Just the expressions on her face tell me she loves me, wants to play with me and have fun, and even say "it will be alright daddy, you can do it."  I live for these moments and never will take them forgranted.

    3. We live in a wonderful home in a small town where the people in the community are quite close. We are members of a wonderful church with a Pastor that is totally committed to reaching people for Jesus Christ and reaching those that are hurting and helpless.

    4. Above all, I am thankful for my Salvation.  Pastor Jeff preached a message yesterday about the cross and how it was bloody. He went into the details on how Jesus was beaten.  It wasn't a pretty message. It was the truth.  The truth was how much God loves us and what He did for us.  I have had so much realization this year on this. I have had to do a lot of serious repenting and turning from things that had gripped my life at times.  Amazing what God does through a baby. One was born on this earth to save all (Jesus).  One was born in October 2008 that caused a daddy struggling to look within, repent, and become a totally new and restored man.  IF YOU THINK GOD DOES NOT HAVE A PLAN FOR YOU, RE-READ WHAT I JUST WROTE!!  God uses even the smallest and youngest of people (His children), to reach those who need reached and bring them close to Him.

    5. I am thankful for wonderful friends. We have many and love making more, and more.

    6. I am thankful for family outside our immediate. We look forward to spending the holidays with you and look forward to seeing many others next year as we get to bring Reagan with us to meet many of you.

    7. I am thankful for you who read this blog and for those who comment on it.  Some of you I have never met but would very much like too, some I have known for a long time, some who I have known for a short time.

Becky, Reagan and myself want to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!!

The election outcome and hope for tomorrow

It has been a long time since I put up an entry here.  So since I have a few minutes, I would like to discuss how I felt about the election outcome and hope.

Needlesstosay I like many of you was EXTREMELY disappointed at the outcome.  It is true that the Republican party has indeed abandoned its true conservative principles and has adopted a concept of reaching to the center to cooperate with liberal Democrats, however as Rush Limbaugh has discussed on his radio program they don't shake your hands, they cut them up.  Abandoning conservative principles is the reason so many Republicans lost their positions 2 years ago in congress and can explain President Bush's low approval ratings.  It also explains why the McCain campaign did not win this election.  McCain was a risky choice for the nomination.  Republicans did not choose a winner. The media played him up in the primary and caucus days. The one that was hated was Mitt Romney. I still believe if he had been the nominee, the outcome of the election would have been a lot different. Enough of the "compassionate conservatism" and the "working together become more like them" crowd, it is time to get back to the roots of what this party truly was and is.  The "lets work together" attitude got us nowhere and now we have a real mess.

The choice is ultimately up to the people and it is unfortunate people look towards a security in what government can do instead of what they can do.  We all are blessed with talents and gifts from God, and when they are used for His purposes to serve others, we prosper beyond our wildest dreams.  Unfortunately, many obviously live without the only one thing that can truly bring fulfillment.

It bothers me that people would elect anyone who believes in so many liberal socialistic views.

They choose big government providing for them and forget the ones they elect:

    1. believe in the right to kill an innocent unborn child (Abortion)

    2. Believe in and have voted on assaulting the right to keep and bear arms

    3. Believe in redistributing wealth (by the way, what kind of crap is this?  The government has NO SAY and should have NO SAY in how much money and success one achieves in his or her life)

    4. Appoints very left-winged individuals such as Rahm Emanuel and possibly Hillary Clinton to cabinet positions. What types of judges will Mr. Obama select for the Supreme Court?

Oh yeah....He has a solid majority now in Congress of very liberal Democrats to work with.   This one really made no sense to me at all.  The nation as a whole has disapproved of Democrat controlled congress by as much as 92% at times yet elects even MORE Democrats to congress.

Though I have my criticisms of John McCain, I proudly voted for him.  I will always honor him as a POW and would proudly salute him.  I disagreed with him 30% of the time but agreed with him 70% of the time.  His service to his country in both the Navy and in Congress is honorable, and he himself is a very honorable man.

Lets talk about hope. I am prould of Mr. McCain for introducing this nation to such a fine woman as Governor Sarah Palin. This woman is not going to go away and will continue to play a major role in this party.  She holds true to the Conservative principles this party's platform has always been. She is also a wonderful leader.  I love listening to her.  She is the female version of Ronald Reagan.  She governs Alaska exceptionally well, is very patriotic, a Christian and a hunter.  She is everything America stands for, Freedom, God, Hard-working, and Family.  I hope I get the opportunity to meet her and introduce my daughter to her someday.  I also hope to campaign for her.  (who knows, maybe ask her to take me on a moose hunt. LOL). God Bless her!!

Focus on Hope...Hope is everything, and I don't mean that about politics.  Hope has become a word I turn too often in my own life.  God has done so many wonderful things in my life this year.  Hope is what makes me the man I am today and not the man I was yesterday.  Our hope is always in Christ Jesus our Lord, NOT our government or any man.  So to conclude...Ask yourself the question "Is there hope for a brighter tomorrow?" Then look at your children.  :)

  • Proud Daddy

God really does do miracles.  I just witnessed yet another MAJOR one.   On the 10th of October in the year of our Lord 2008, I saw the fingerprints of God in the form of a beautiful baby girl.  My beautiful wife Becky and I welcomed Reagan Hannah Marchbank into the world this date and are blessed to be the parents of this fine young lady.

Becky and the baby are doing very well.  The last couple of days have been very exciting, but very exhausting.  Today, two days after her birth, I have not slept but about 2 hours probably at the most. Excitement, Joy, Wonder, Awesome, Beautiful, and Miraculous are the only words that I can come up with to express why that is.  I'm not in Heaven, but have been blessed by God with a piece of heaven on earth.

I am happy to share this with all of you.  Tomorrow we will be able to take her home with us as we will finally be realeased from the hospital.  We look forward to taking her home so she can spend the night in her own home instead of a hospital, to sleep in her basinet and in her own room.  She will also get to meet 2 wonderful friends. Nugent and Cabella.

We have been blessed to have our family and friends join us at the hospital to celebrate the last couple of days.  Today our friends Matt and Sarah came by.  We were really hoping that as they were there... that Sarah would go into labor since her due date has come and gone.

We will have more to come, however wanted to share a few words with all of you and a few pictures of our beautiful daughter with all of you.

    I am one proud daddy!!

    God bless you all...

    A Miracle

    A Recipe for Hope

It has been a long time since I have written. I hope everyone is doing well.

The last few weeks have been incredibly busy here at the Marchbank house.  We are preparing for the arrival of Reagan Hannah (our daughter) to our blessed home.

Becky has been doing very well with her bedrest and we only have 3 and a half weeks to go.  It has been a fantastic journey.

GOD has done so much in both of our lives.  I have had some major things happen in my own life.  God has showed me areas that need to be dealt with NOW!  Some things required deliverance.  I know God has changed my life.  What a timing too, just before I became a Dad.  He knows our struggles, He knows our sufferings, He knows our hearts, and He knows our dreams.

Last weekend was opening day for Teal. Teal are small ducks that are the first to migrate south in he early fall.  I went out to my favorite marsh with Cabella (my black lab), got ready to head out and noticed that I had forgotten to purchase a habitat stamp.  My hunt immediately ended.  Usually I would get very upset about something this petty, however I simply looked at Cabella, apoligized since she didnt get to retreive any ducks and simply said "thats the berrys".  I headed to Wal-Mart to take care of this problem so I could do it this weekend.

While going to Wal-Mart, the Christian radio station mentioned the Men at the Cross conference being held at the Mid-America center.  They mentioned to all listeners that it was free.  I felt that I should attend, so I headed home, put my gear away and headed up to the conference.  I walked in and immediately was met by the Holy Spirit.  I found myself in a worship service singing "Only You". I sat there in the dark room with only the stage lights up and broke down.  I honestly can't remember the last time I worshiped in that way.  God has broken down and restored a man that has been falling hard.  Later a preacher by the name of Reggie Dabbs spoke and I began to feel the Sprit of God move within me.  It was a wonderful refreshing time.  What was there was HOPE!.

Hope is wonderful thing.  The Word of God talks about Hope in many areas.  It also has a recipe.  In Romans 5, Paul gives us this recipe. It all begins with Perserverance.  When we perservere, we develop Character, and with our character develops Hope.

    Perserverance = Character = Hope..

No matter what you have done, been, or how you might be living now, there is hope for you.  I know this to be absolute truth..

God bless all who read this and begin to perservere after Jesus Christ, who wants to give hope.

  • Opportunities truly are everywhere...just look around and see

Sometimes we take for granted the things we have been richly blessed with.  I know I have.  I don't know what is going on with me right now but it is a good thing.  I appreciate things so much more.   I remember the last time I felt this way was in 1996 when I got out of Navy boot camp. I remember going down to Meridian, MS. to start my training for my rating.  I had the opportunity to enjoy some liberty. I got into my summer white uniform and walked down to McDonalds and grabbed a Big Mac.  LOVED IT!! Just the opportunity to walk to a Mc'd's was enjoyable.  Later on towards Christmas we were able to wear civilian clothes again. It felt great to put on a pair of jeans again and a sweat shirt.  I remember going to a mall on a bus and doing some Christmas shopping and a lady in the Hallmark giving me a cup of hot cider. It was the best cider I ever had to this date and it probably was nothing more than that stuff you buy in the grocery store.  It was great to actually receive something.

Well...Here I am getting ready to be a dad and I find myself in that exact same frame of mind.  Becky can't do a lot right now being on bed rest, therefore we do a lot of things around here.  We play games more.  I forgot how much fun a game of backgammon was, or watching the Olympics. Last night I took her out for dinner to Cracker Barrel.  It is a restaraunt we go to quite often, however last night was really special since Becky can't do a lot.  We had a date night.  It is unfortunate that Becky has preeclampsia, however there are still opportunities to do things.   The doctor last week told her she was looking great and her blood pressure was staying stable.  She told me 3 weeks ago I could take Becky for a ride and encouraged me to as long as she was ok.  So I took her to dinner and then pushed the envelope and let took her to the new Bed and Bath store that opened up in Council Bluffs since it is one of her favorites.  She had fun and it was a great outing for us both.
